• Prevu of AAAS Topics by Fedoroff @ CEAC-UArizona, Fall, 2011

AAAS President Dr. Nina Fedoroff was not entirely optimistic about prospects for science to feed the planet, in her presentation at Controlled Environment Agriculture Center at Univ. of Arizona, Fall, 2011 at CEAC Annual Research Report. There is hope, but it is not without peril, she suggests. People in agriculture and technology can make the difference, she notes. Sustainable practice for food production is not necessarily "organic" in that way regulations have made the organic food industry in the USA, for example. Great and good foods can be produced without the use of so-called "organics," as they are in greenhouse rooftops at Gotham Greens in New York City and Lufa Farms in Montreal. Hydroponics and aquaponics offer real tools. CEAC in Tucson, AZ is one of the focals points for that knowledge.
